Welcome to the site of Cretan Donkey Care.

Who are we?
Cretan Donkey Care is a Foundation, which started as a personal initiative.
Diana Hermans came to Crete for many years before she met Donkey Daphne and a great friendship was born. So Diana became infected with the donkey virus!

What are we doing?
We raise donations and sponsorship for the maintenance of the neglected, abandoned and retired donkeys who live at the Haven on Crete.

We support the outreach project of CAWG, which helps the older Cretan people, who still use their donkeys for their work on the land.

This project means that donkeys are given a free " service ". The hooves and teeth are cared for by our Dutch farrier Hans Signer and British Equine Dentist Garry Draper, who both work free for our project.

Specifically to support this project, we sell a beautiful Greek donkey keyring ... ... for just 5 euro excl. mailing/legal costs.

... ... In October 2009 it cost only 12 euro to treat each working donkey ... ... So little but so very valuable for his own well being and his owner's livelihood.
